Checking in – Southwest Washington Medical Center, Vancouver, WA

The Southwest Washington Medical Center Parking Structure, Vancouver, WA

Back in the Fall of 2005, we were just starting to hang planters off the side of buildings. We had recently acquired Flower Framers of Cincinnati, a manufacturer of window boxes and other hanging planters. That led to the insight that we could probably do the same type of product for larger commercial applications.  The planters at the Southwest Washington Medical Center, installed in 2005,  were one of our first attempts at the design and fabrication of large, custom hanging boxes.  The photograph taken above, and most following, were taken by our sales manager John Denman during a visit to Vancouver, WA in December, 6 years after the product was installed.

University Village Starbucks is one of the busiest in Seattle

Most have heard of the problems Starbucks Coffee stores went through several years ago, leading to significant changes to their chain- retraining employees, shuttering underperforming stores (including one near us), re-emphasizing the coffee experience, etc.  We were excited to be contacted by Starbucks’ Seattle-based design team to work with them on their new store concept.

TerraScreen living wall - photos courtesy of Plantscapes

We were recently sent images by our friends at Plantscapes in Seattle, who just completed the installation of this TerraScreen living wall. It is part of a “workplace lab” for a very large software company in Seattle. They are continually updating the way that they structure their workspaces, and invited Plantscapes to install a living wall as a demonstration project. In addition to what you see above, they will be installing a custom one-row TerraScreen panel on the endcap, to complete the wrap-around look.  They wanted to leave the end exposed initially so that the employees could understand how the system works.

More images after the break.
