We’ve been very busy at Tournesol Siteworks over the last few weeks. During April and May, we had the opportunity to exhibit at several national trade shows and regional shows across the country. During the conferences, our Sales Managers met new customers and visited with long time customers and prospects.

Booth at the AIA ’17

We exhibited at the AIA’ 17 Conference on Architecture, held in Orlando, FL. It was a good show! Since we acquired FairWeather Site Furnishings earlier this year, we featured the Granville Collection Bench, developed for a 2010 Winter Olympics venue in Vancouver. The collection includes multiple styles of a bench that seemingly floats a seat section off a curved, perforated steel end frame (shown in the image behind Brian Mitalo above).

Booth at the HD Expo

We also exhibited at the HD Expo Hospitality Design Event in Las Vegas, NV, last week. The show was held at the Mandalay Bay on an immense show floor. Thanks to everyone who stopped by our booth! We showed two FairWeather benches, the Galleria Collection and the Narrows Collection. Our booth contained an entire roof deck scenario for amenity spaces, and interest was especially high for our Boulevard Structural Wood Tiles (shown above) and VersiJack pedestals.

Colby Nicholson, NW Regional Sales Manager

Along with the busy trade shows, Tournesol Siteworks welcomed a few new employees who’ve joined our team! We’re happy to announce Colby Nicholson (shown above at the HD Expo), our new Regional Sales Manager for the redefined Northwest, Mountain states, and western Canada territory. Colby comes to Tournesol Siteworks from Poli-Film America, where he managed a territory and sold surface protection films to finished material (metal, glass and other materials) manufacturers. When he’s not working, Colby loves to go on road trips with his fiancé searching out new adventures. He’s an avid golfer and a huge sports fanatic, always supporting the Washington State Cougars (his alma mater), the Seattle Seahawks and the Mariners. We’re excited to have him on the team!

Last, but not least, we celebrated Cinco de Mayo at our headquarters facility with an Open House Fiesta, welcoming our regional customers, vendors, employees and their families. There were festivities, drinks, food, games, and kid’s activities. The highlight of the Fiesta was a great Mariachi Band with one of our employees, Miguel Luis, a master artist from our tooling department! Click here to watch a video of the Mariachi Band.

Thank you, Tournesol Siteworks, for a great party!

Tournesol Siteworks recently acquired FairWeather Site Furnishings, with a facility located in Port Orchard, WA. With the acquisition, comes new products and installations from across the country that Tournesol can now provide. The Washington facility will be our base for metal and wood fabrication.

Pacifica Collection bench  at JupiterFIRST Church’s Serenity Garden

We’ve learned a lot about the company as we’ve gotten to know them. One story we love is how a bench in Biloxi inspired a specification in Florida. FairWeather was specified and provided 20 of the Pacifica Collection benches for a project at the Gulf-Biloxi Regional Airport in Mississippi. The Pacifica benches were installed by Yates Construction and each 6 ft. backed bench was fabricated with 1/2″ x 2″ curved steel bar. The seat sections were fabricated with 1/4″ x 1-1/2″ steel straps.

Landscape architect Howard F. Ostrout of Howard F. Ostrout and Associates of Jupiter, FL, was traveling through the airport and sat on one of the benches and thought to himself, “this is one of the most comfortable benches I’ve ever sat on.”

Fast forward a couple of years to when JupiterFIRST Church in Jupiter, FL, contacted Mr. Ostrout to design a Serenity Garden for the church. He remembered how comfortable he was while sitting on the benches at the Gulf-Biloxi Airport so he reached out to FairWeather to use the same benches for the design.

Howard requested modification of the Pacifica benches to match his concept for the design of the Serenity Garden. FairWeather changed the orientation of the steel straps in order for some of the benches to be curved, and added custom ergonomic seat sections.  The garden includes 6 curved and 10 straight steel strap benches in powder-coated Burgundy. JupiterFIRST Church continues to enjoy the beautiful surrounding of the Serenity Garden today.
