Modular GRT2 greenroof trays on a 1600sf installation in Vancouver

We recently were able to get several nice images of a greenroof using our GRT2 modular green roof trays. This 1600 sq. ft. greenroof was installed at the Alto in Vancouver, BC, by T. Moscone Bros. Landscaping.  The designer, Durante Kreuk ltd., originally had specified a different modular system.  According to the contractor, the leadtime for the alternate product was longer than the window that they had to install it, so they went with our GRT2 instead.  While there were a few small elements that the landscape architect saw that could be improved on the next installation, they were pleased enough to specify the our product in a similar application on a building going in right next door!

They’ve also used the Mubi living wall system on the front of the building, and have been pleased with overall results after a year. Some winter die-back, but overall the plants seem healthy.

First Look – Fantastic VertiGreen Hybrid installation at Jean Nouvel project in NYC

all photos courtesy of Blondies Treehouse

This is a project that will define the capabilities of what our new VertiGreen Hybrid system can do.  That might sound a little dramatic, but when we saw the images, we realized that the contractor, Blondies Treehouse of Mamaroneck, NY, really understands the product and used it to their advantage.  As a reminder, they gained experience with the product at the Whole Foods store in Long Grove, NY. A combination of square and rectangular Urban Pots

The work at 5550 Wilshire Blvd., in the heart of  Los Angele’s Miracle Mile district, was one of our largest projects of the year. With over 180 pots, in both GFRC and FRP fiberglass, as well as container irrigation for them all, it kept our manufacturing facility busy for some time.  The landscape design for this project was done by Valleycrest Design Group of Orange County (formerly HRP Studio)  for the developer Legacy Partners.  We worked closely with ParkWest Landscape, who handled the entire project. Harbor Pointe Condominiums and Townhomes

We’ve been working together with Anastasi Development, the developers behind Harbor Pointe, for years, and it is a pleasure to feature one of their properties here.  Most of their projects over the past 10 years have included our SeaCrest Series planters with the built-in container irrigation system. VertiGreen Hybrid at Collwood St.

We just got in pictures of our second installation of the VertiGreen Hybrid product, along this wall in San Diego.  The project, specified by Gillespie Moody Patterson and installed by Valleycrest Landscape, was originally supposed to be a conventional 3D  trellis.

UR-3600 square planters in bronze finish

This high-rise near downtown San Diego, owned by Affirmed Housing Group and built by Turner Construction, was never supposed to be a customer of ours.  According to our regional sales representative Jon Willingham, the client had already purchased a significant number of planters from a local manufacturer when Turner and the landscape contractor Benchmark Landscape gave us a call.  The unwanted planters were stacked in a corner of the project when he arrived…

Urban Collection planters after installation

The designer of this project, located in suburban Los Angeles, made the most of a small space with tight weight restrictions.  By mixing the modern-feeling Urban Collection planters, large stone mulching, and plant selection, DWLA landscape architects created a modern minimalist feel, getting the most out of the green in the project.

Wilshire Collection Squares and Rectangles

Louis Fusco Landscape Architects pulled off an excellent example of configuring space using planters at this project in Queens, NY last year.  Using large (36″) and small (24″) Wilshire Collection squares and a series of 96″ long rectangles, they created rooms, sitting areas, and bench structures.  More after the break…

Urban Collection round US-2400, US-3600 and US-3000

Sometimes I think if you follow our blog you’d think that all we do is living wall systems.  Just to set the record straight, that couldn’t be further from the truth.  While living wall is a fast-emerging opportunity for us, our bread-and-butter business remains manufacturing pots, planters, and irrigation systems.  We try to post as many images from installed projects in this blog so that our customers have a chance to see what our products really look like in the field, and to get a sense of whether it will work for what they’re doing.  We also hope, just a little, that it will provide inspiration and ideas for designers looking for ways to make their urban environment greener. Avalon at Mission Bay – San Francisco, CA

Wilshire Collection rectangles WR-962424

Sometimes more is not less.  For the Avalon Apartments at Mission Bay in San Francisco, PGADesign went for a simple Wilshire Collection fiberglass (frp) rectangle for the accent planters along the street fronts of this glass curtainwall building.  By using the 24″x24″ profile, the architect gave the unit enough “punch” to make a statement in this fast-developing section of San Francisco.  The planters were installed by Valleycrest Landscape, the same folks that installed the planters in the last post, 211 Main.  More images after the break.
