We worked with Tremco Roofing, a division of RPM Building Solutions, earlier this year on a rooftop that they maintain for the Washington Hospital of Fremont, CA. You may recall that we worked with Tremco on their own corporate rooftop in Beachwood, OH (see this blog post). They were aware of our ability to create screens using planters, and thought it would be perfect for this equipment-intensive roof, surrounded by patient areas.
The design was laid out by Tremco, with some support from John Denman, our local Tournesol Siteworks product sales representative. They used our Wilshire Collection 18″W x 24″H rectangular planters, and 48″ VertiGreen 3D trellis panels. Many of the boxes needed to be custom cut to lengths to adjust to the roof spacing.
The project used a combination of evergreen shrubs that will block the roof equipment, and a few flowering varieties that will provide visual interest and color for years to come. The plantings shown in these images were taken a few weeks after installation, so they are just starting to fill in the trellis.
Because this is a local job, we can update you with images as the project matures. The owner is delighted with the results. In addition to this project, we’re already working with Tremco on several other installations. They have extensive green-roof capabilities, both as far as installation and maintenance. They find that our products help them add on to their focus on value-added living architecture on rooftops.
