The new terrace at the entrance to Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, NV

Tournesol Siteworks was part of one of the hottest tickets in Las Vegas last fall when renowned Washington DC chef Michel Richard opened his newest eatery, Central Michel Richard at Caesars Palace. The restaurant was named to several “Top 10″ lists within months of opening. Landscape architect Chris Attanasio designed the outdoor terrace using our Wilshire Collection rectangles to create the terrace space, and Downtown Collection as focal planters.

Custom Wilshire Collection rectangles create the space for the terrace

The project was coordinated by 2 Scale Interiors of Falls Church, VA, a firm that had previously worked with Michel Richard on another of his restaurant projects.  Jon Willingham, our regional salesperson in the Las Vegas area, worked with Attanasio Landscape Architecture and then met with Michel Richard on site to ensure that he was satisfied with the finishes to be used on the pots.

Originally the designer wanted central pots in 4 different custom shapes and sizes

All the pots utilize Tournesol Sitework’s CWM Modular Container Irrigation Systems.  The existing hardscape didn’t need to be torn up to install irrigation plumbing, and the maintenance will be simplified in the hot Las Vegas summer.

A variety of very exact lengths were required to fit between the large bollards

The existing space, and the layout of the bollards required that we manufacture the planters in a wide variety of lengths, ranging from 120″L down to 36″L, with several other smaller custom sizes thrown in. Perhaps the most critical element of the project was the time frame. We worked closely with Valleycrest Landscape Maintenance, who installed the project, having them identify the units that needed to be prioritized. From receipt of order to initial delivery, we got the custom work out in a matter of 3-4 weeks (no small matter for planters of this size).

Most rectangles were 30"w x 36"H - by widely varying lengths

The whole project turned out great – especially important for a project as high-profile for all involved as this one was.
