Introducing the next generation VGM Modular living wall – VGM3

The new VGM3 module

Tournesol Siteworks has been working closely with our partner Elmich in Singapore to bring you the next generation of VGM modular living wall – the VGM3.  For those who have worked with VGM in the past, you’ll find the great features that made VGM a superior living wall solution (availability in 4″ and 8″ soil profiles, ease of removal/installation, open planting space, recycled materials) are all still there.

We’re not content to rest on our laurels – we want the best system to be better, at a lower overall installed cost!

We’ve completely redesigned the VGM module, as well as the bracket and rail system. The new VGM3 has several new upgrades:

  • Removable lid for easy refilling of soil
  • Additional window restraints keep the media bag (and plants) in place,  minimizing soil erosion and wind scour
  • Removable sidewall planting windows
  • Thinner, low profile sidewalls & roof allow for tighter module spacing
  • Easier, faster module assembly – less bowing of the face panel
  • Simplified one-piece brackets speed up installation dramatically, reduce material and allow for tighter module spacing
  • Mounting rails are standardized, so no need for end rails vs. center rails.
  • New 3-module rail (70-7/8″L) replaces the previous 4-module rail (now use 2 2-module rails)
  • A new “anti-lift arm” is available to prevent unwanted removal of modules from rail, either by individuals or weather/seismic activity
  • All brackets and rails are now manufactured in 304 Stainless Steel for long-term durability. The brackets are powder coated black so they can’t be seen, the rails are left natural stainless

In addition to these benefits, we’ve been able to reduce the costs on the new VGM3 system!  Despite the upgrade of the materials, we’ve reduced the per-square-foot cost of the system by approx. 10-20%, depending upon the configuration and quantity.  Call us to requote your existing project, or just ask up for a new 2012 price list.

With a slimmer wall profile and less obtrusive brackets, the module itself is far less noticeable than the original waffle panels. Although it’s approximately the same size, each module will contain slightly more soil.

We’re now shipping the new VGM3.  The current system is not backwards-compatible with the previous rail and frame system. If you have previously installed a VGM wall and need modules or parts, we still have plenty in stock.

If you’ve designed a project which hasn’t yet been installed, check with your salesperson to get new CAD drawings showing current rail configurations, spacing, and dimensions.
