The Citiesalive conference starts tomorrow in Vancouver. If you’re there, make sure to attend the “On the roof with…” panel discussion during Session 4, at 4:45 on Thursday in the West Meeting Room 121-122. The topic, “Green Walls From Promise to Performance – Issues and Opportunities Looking Forward” is one that we consider vitally important to the continuing development of the living wall marketplace. We’ll be discussing the long-term sustainability of living wall designs, how to measure their performance, and what (if any) sorts of standards can and should be set for installation. If this type of design is to continue to thrive, the topics discussed in this panel will be a big part of it.
Tournesol Siteworks’ Christopher Lyon will be on the panel, with Reuben Freed of Greenscreen, Randy Sharp, ASLA, GRP, Sharp & Diamond Landscape Architecture Inc. (one of the true leaders and innovators when it comes to greenwalls), Genevieve Noel, BDES, BCID, MUBI Regenerative Consulting Inc. (a devoted living wall designer, manufacturer, installer, and trainer), and Maureen Connelly, MAIBC, Director, Faculty, British Columbia Institute of Technology- Centre for Architectural Ecology. The whole discussion will be moderated by James Sable of Greenscreen.
It promises to be an interesting discussion!!
