First Look: Collwood St. VertiGreen Hybrid project, San Diego, CA

We just got in pictures of our second installation of the VertiGreen Hybrid product, along this wall in San Diego.  The project, specified by Gillespie Moody Patterson and installed by Valleycrest Landscape, was originally supposed to be a conventional 3D  trellis.

More images after the break…

According to what we heard, the planters (or at least the planting area) was deleted from the job, yet the city still required plants on a trellis. GMP had recently seen our VertiGreen Hybrid trellis product, and realized that it could solve their problem. By combining a VGM plant growing module and a 6″ grid 3D trellis, we can grow trellis plantings nearly anywhere – including 8′ up a wall with no soil in sight.

Grow-in has just begun

Valleycrest ran irrigation to each 4′x4′ panel, to water the 6″ deep VGM plant growing module.  We’ll continue to post updates as we follow the plants growing in.

Stay tuned for more updates!

  1. Funny thing – this project is about 1/4 mile from my house. In the third pic down the large pine in the background is my neighbors. I pass this project on my way to work every day!
I’ll send follow pics as the plants grow.
    BTW, its Collwood AVE.
