downtown san jose 006The City of San Jose has put over 300 planters in its downtown district during the past year, and nearly all of them have been manufactured by Tournesol Siteworks. The previous post showed the most recent installation of custom Urban Collection and Wilshire Box hanging planters.  This post highlights previous work done in the same downtown area.

The firm of Ken Kay & Assocs. was brought in to work with both the San Jose Redevelopment Agency and the San Jose Property Owner’s Association (PBID), and specified our Metro Collection squares for a variety of public areas. The first color they selected, oxide (a deep red), turned out to be a bit much and the containers were repainted black.  Most of the containers were planted with the CWM Modular irrigation system.

In the most recent installation they added lightweight GFRC concrete Arcade Collection bowls to several non-functioning fountains.  In order to achieve the nearly black color, a dark concrete stain was used.
